Copyright and Content Removal

Two different complaints end up on the same desk: content that infringes your copyright, and content that shows you and should not exist. This page covers both.

What this page is for

Getting something taken down that is yours, or is you.

Use it if material on Minichat TV copies work you own, or if there is material showing you that you did not agree to. The second case is treated urgently, and it does not matter whether you can point to a copyright you hold.

For behaviour on a call rather than content on the platform, the community guidelines describe reporting instead.

Before you write

Check you can point to the exact thing.

A complaint we cannot locate is a complaint we cannot act on. Have the link, the username, or a clear enough description that someone who has never seen the content can find it in one go. A screenshot helps, though it is not a substitute for a location.

What a complaint should contain

Six things, and it is faster if they are all in the first email.

  • Your name, and a way to reply to you.
  • What the work is, or who the person in the material is.
  • Where on this site the material is — a link, a username, or both.
  • Why you are entitled to make the request.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised.
  • A statement that the information you have given is accurate.

Send it to [email protected] with "copyright" or "removal" in the subject line.

What we do with it

Look at it, and remove or restrict access to the material if the complaint holds up.

A valid complaint results in the material being removed or access to it restricted. Where the account responsible has done this before, the account itself can be terminated.

We do not promise a turnaround time on this page. Content showing a person without their consent is handled ahead of everything else in the queue.

If you think your content was removed wrongly

Write back and say why.

Send us a message explaining what was removed and on what basis you believe you were entitled to post it. If the material is restored, the person who complained may be told that it has been.

Doing this repeatedly

Accounts that keep infringing lose access.

An account that is the subject of repeated valid complaints is terminated. Submitting complaints you know to be false is also a problem, and can carry consequences of its own under the law where you are.
